Compact and square in shape, the Maltese is a toy dog breed. The breed looks very delicate with it’s black eyes, dropped ears and silky white coat. When you let a maltase’s coat grow, it can reach as far as the ground. Show Maltese’s typically have long flat hair falling on either side of the animal with a part down the middle. Their coat should be groomed regularly to avoid matting. A Maltese’s delicate facial features and overall body structure make them quite easy to recognize.
The innocent and toy-like features should not fool you. This small dog has very bold traits that are not to be missed. Maltese’s are quick to notify their owner if they should see or hear anything strange. The breed is also a very affectionate canine with plenty of love to give and a sharp mind. Their ability to quickly pick up routines and tricks make them the perfect show dog.
